Event description: Beyond Distance Research Alliance
Dear Everyone,
Thanks very much for your active participation at the event today. We’re really grateful for the coming of those who are from the Beyond Distance Research Alliance; and thanks to Dr. Palitha Edirisingha for his great coordination of the event. We want to express our special gratitude to Prof Gilly Salmon for giving us the wonderful talk about the projects she’s involved in over the recent period. Although some of the projects are still on trial, the whole way of thinking has been indeed making a great revolutionary impact on the teaching and learning process of the universities in the 21st century. For the next time (11 Dec.), we’re going to have a special Christmas event on the theme of “new media & new research experience”, at which we feel honored for having invited the new Graduate Dean, Prof. Sarah Hainsworth, to give a brief talk about “new media & collaborative research”. We have also invited the Graduate Reading Room Facilitator, Dr Emma Kimberley, to give a brief introduction about the new “digital research forum” at Library. Apart from that, our special guest, Prof. Howard Rheingold, from Stanford University, is “coming” to say “hi” to everybody on video; and he would also give a brief discussion about his opinion on “how to improve classroom and postgraduate research community with the use of new social media technologies”. So we’re very looking forward to seeing you all again for the next time!
All the best wishes,
Jin
